- Under The Current Vol. 1 (2023)
Under The Current, was my UPH College Senior Recital, held at D501, Universitas Pelita Harapan, on March 15, 2023. The title reflects a mindset of facing life’s challenges in a smoother and more thoughtful way. Rather than fighting against the current, I chose to swim beneath it to look beyond the immediate complexity and understand problems from a broader perspective. By stepping back and seeing the bigger picture, I learned to approach difficulties with greater clarity and calmness.
This philosophy also shaped the musical direction of the recital. Many of the pieces in the program contained complex elements such as changing time signatures, complex rhythms, and sophisticated harmonic structures. However, my goal was not to draw attention to these technical aspects, but to encourage the audience to experience the music as a whole. I wanted listeners to focus on the flow, emotion, and story of each piece, allowing the music to speak for itself rather than be viewed primarily through a theoretical lens.
2. Under The Current Vol. 2 (2026)
Under The Current Vol. 2 is a continuation of the original Under The Current, which marked an important stepping stone in my musical journey from high school to university. Held at the Red Room, 939 Café, Berklee College of Music, on April 24, 2026, this recital reflects my growth as both a musician and an artist.
While the first volume explored a wide range of musical ideas, Under The Current Vol. 2 focuses more deeply on the worlds of modern jazz and funk. Through this performance, I invited the audience into a space of spontaneity, interaction, and musical freedom. The recital celebrates live music as a shared experience, where creativity unfolds in the moment and every performance becomes unique. More importantly, it represents how I have come to understand music as a powerful form of self-expression. One that reflects my identity as an explorer, constantly seeking new sounds, ideas, and possibilities.
3. The Funky Chocolate (2023 – 2024)
The Funky Chocolate was a seven-member band formed in 2023 during the final year of high school. Born from a shared passion for music and friendship, the band became more than just a performing group, it was a space where we built lasting memories, strengthened our friendships, and grew together as musicians. Driven by the energy and enthusiasm of young artists, The Funky Chocolate served as a platform for exploring creativity while continuously developing our musical skills. Musically, the band focused on Indonesian pop, infused with elements of funk and fusion, creating a sound that was both familiar and fresh. Through rehearsals, performances, and countless moments together, the band became an important part of my musical journey and a reflection of how music can bring people together.
